Niwan Turkish Restaurant
Welcome to Niwan Turkish Restaurant, a gem nestled in the heart of Wellingborough at 31 Midland Road. This charming eatery has been delighting patrons with its authentic Turkish cuisine, warm ambiance, and family-oriented service. Whether you're dining in or taking away, Niwan provides an experience that feels like a home away from home.
As a food reviewer for Pops Cafe, I had the pleasure of indulging in a variety of dishes that truly capture the essence of Turkish flavors. The menu is a tapestry of options, featuring both cold and hot starters that tease the palate. I particularly enjoyed the Mixed Meze, a chef's selection of eight different cold starters, artfully presented and bursting with freshness. Each bite was a delightful journey through a medley of tastes, from the Ezme Salad—a zesty mix of tomatoes, peppers, and herbs—to the rich and savory Patlican Soslu.
Moving on to the hot starters, the Mixed Hot Starter was a highlight, showcasing a splendid variety that included succulent calamari and juicy king prawns, all cooked to perfection. The Butter King Prawns were another stand-out, cooked with garlic and served with a refreshing salad that added balance to the dish.
The main courses at Niwan are an event unto themselves. The Sac Kavurma, featuring tender chicken breasts sautéed with red and green peppers, was a standout for its rich flavors and perfect spice. The accompanying rice and salad made for a blissful combination that left me craving more. For those who prefer lamb, the Choban Kavurma offers a deliciously rich tomato sauce that perfectly complements its tender pieces of meat.
Grilled options are abundant here, and the Mix Grills platter is a must-try for meat lovers. Skewers of chicken and lamb, alongside adana chicken beyti and lamb chops, deliver robust flavors, paired ideally with the vibrant salads and fluffy rice.
Vegetarian options, like the Soslu Yaprak Sarma, offer a delightful alternative, while the fish dishes, especially the Bream, are perfectly grilled and packed with flavor, making it a worthy indulgence for seafood lovers.
One of the highlights of dining at Niwan is the lively atmosphere. Reviews from patrons speak volumes about the welcoming ambiance and attentive service. Customers rave about the warmth of the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure each guest feels special—whether you're there for a special occasion or a casual meal with family.
In a nutshell, Niwan Turkish Restaurant isn’t just about food; it's about creating an experience that makes you feel like part of their family. It truly embodies what dining should be—a celebration of flavors, friendships, and unforgettable moments. If you haven't yet visited, make it a point to stop by; I guarantee you won't leave disappointed.

My husband and I had a quick stop here following a recommendation from a friend. We felt very welcome upon entering, the atmosphere was great, the team was welcoming and accommodating. We had great starters and our main course was also very good. I was too tired to eat but I did take away mine and it was still very lovely. If I'm ever in the area again I would go back to this restaurant.

The food was simply stunning, and the service was pretty great too. We were welcomed in, and offered a choice of tables, which was a nice touch. After being seated we were then given a drinks list to view and order from. After ordering the drinks we were presented with a delicious and giant puffball bread, served with what I can only guess was a form of Sumac onions, I say "guess" because the host wasn't giving away any secrets to me on this visit, however he promised to enlighten me on my return visit. Then came the main course, where every meal was cooked perfectly, and as silly as it sounds so was the rice. This was my first time having Cheesy Lamb Kas, and I will thoroughly and highly recommend it, both the guys I was with shared the same thoughts about their own meals the Mixed Grill and Cheesy Chicken Saute.See you again soon Vegetarian options: There seems to plenty of vegetarian options.Parking: You have to find a parking space in the street and walk to the restaurant.
